Post- Visit Writing Component
One of the big lessons of history in war time is the critical role our military medical departments play in dealing with wounds and infectious diseases. Military leaders paid close attention to diseases as more service personnel could be killed by disease than guns. So imagine you were serving as a Medic on the USS Yorktown and refugees were brought into Sick Bay and began to run high fevers. How would you use your leadership skills of communication, innovation and education to prevent the spread of an unknown virus such as Ebola? Think of the various areas of the ship where diseases could spread such as the water system, air vents, etc. imagine you were serving on the USS Yorktown during WWII or Vietnam as a medic. If a sudden illness like “Ebola” became a concern what would be your first steps in protecting your shipmates?
