Learning about producers as an important part of the ecosystem is very important. They sit at the base of most food chains and supply habitat and structure for many others. However, they cannot do it on their own. Many need help with pollination. We all know the important role that bees play in our ecosystem as pollinators. Pollination is when pollen is taken from one plant to another. This can be done in many ways on land. However in the water scientist had always believed that it was done by the oceans currents and not by any particular animal. While this is true they have found a small crustacean that helps the turtle-grass plant with pollination. This could be the first of many underwater pollinators to be found.
