Bill of rights day

12/15/2016

Did you know the first Ten Amendments to the U.S. Constitution are called the Bill of Rights? The Constitution was adopted on March 4, 1789 which established the United States as a free nation governed by the people. However many state leaders realized some changes needed to be made to the Constitution. So, the Bill of Rights was written by James Madison (Who would become our 4th President) and became law on December 15, 1791. The Bill of Rights guarantees individuals rights like freedom of speech, freedom of religion, the right to bear arms, the right to a speedy trial, and protection against people coming into your home without a warrant.
Happy Birthday to our Bill of Rights!!!
