Sand

2/6/2017

Living here by the ocean is great, except for the fact that sand is EVERYWHERE! It gets in your car, shoes, and all throughout our houses. While sand may seem annoying to us, it is actually a very important abiotic factor in our local ecosystems. Sand is made from the weathering of rock and the breakdown of shells that is deposited along our shoreline. It plays an important role as shelter for many marine lives. So next time you’re walking around the beach take a second and look around you might be surprised with what you see hidden in the sand.
